My approach

My goal is to provide you with high-quality English translations. I am flexible, work efficiently and respect your deadlines. If you need a translation urgently – ask me!

  • I only translate into English, my mother tongue.

  • With over 30 years of experience as a translator in Switzerland, I know the local customs and cultural aspects of the country.

  • I appreciate personal contact with the customers – and, in my experience, customers who appreciate quality also value direct contact with the translator. They want to know who is responsible for the translation. In this way, we can get to know each other and build up a good relationship built on a spirit of partnership and trust – a win-win situation.

  • I use customer-specific translation memories (CAT tool) in order to ensure terminological consistency. All texts are analysed in the TM, i.e. the more I translate for you the more you can benefit from a discount.

About me

I was born and grew up in Britain but spent several years living and studying in the USA. I moved to Basel in 1991. I have always loved languages and it was clear to me from an early age that I wanted to make languages my career.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington in Seattle in Germanics and Romance Languages, I decided to study translation and enrolled at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Institute of Applied Linguistics in Germersheim, Germany, with German and Italian as my languages, I was awarded a degree in translation in 1990.

In 1991 I came to Switzerland and started work in the translation department of Swiss Bank Corporation in Basel.

In 1997, I joined BMP Translations, a Basel-based translation company and from 1997 to May 2025 was Managing Partner in the company.

I started working as a freelance translator in June 2025.
